The park is based on a concept pioneered by Disneyland in California and further employed at the Magic Kingdom in Florida and Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. Occupying 566,560 m² (140 acres), it is the largest Disney park based on the original in California. The park opened as Euro Disneyland on 12 April 1992.

Star Tours
" High-action space adventure from Disney and George Lucas" says the map and the map doesn't lie. Other than being in French, it's no different to the other Star Tours attractions in the the other parks. A high speed simulated space warp. Very highly recommended, as are the computer games (refreshingly not in an arcade style) in L'Astroport services Interstallaires which you'll walk through as you exit the attraction.

Videopolis
This is a huge inside stage/café area where some of the parks' greatest stage shows take place. The show at the moment is " Disney Classics: The Music and The Magic" . Try not to miss it. For more information about the show, follow the " Shows & Parades" link, either from here or from the Disneyland Paris Main Page on this site. Videopolis has Café Hyperion, a counter service burger restaurant, so you can eat while you watch. Time you lunch to coincide with show time, but get there about 45 minutes early for the best seats (if you're eating, the seats with tables at stage left are the best, but there's plenty of room further away). If you're not eating, you can sit down in the auditorium for a great view.

Space Mountain
Technological enhancements to a computerised ride system result in an experience you've got to fly to believe. Close up, Space Mountain is a breath-taking sight. At night the huge brass dome glows green and gold. As the cannon pounds and recoils, shafts of light spray through the jets of steam. It's pure fantasy in the oldest and greatest Disney tradition (yet built with the latest space-technology specifications). It looks back to a time when extravagant mysteries about space still existed, in an homage to the stories of French visionary Jules Verne. Every 36 seconds the Cannon Columbiad fires, launching a 24 passenger rocket train through its five metre wide barrel. Intrepid space travellers aboard shoot to the top in a heart-stopping 1.8 seconds. At the summit, they experience a moment of zero gravity, before descending into the mountain and the dark, black depths of outer space for a thrilling, high-speed adventure from the earth to the moon.
Space Mountain, the first adventure of the third millennium.
Only at Disneyland Paris.
